Like wise, I believe our first GM was intending to participate in the proceedings! :ymapplause:

Did they try to keep the AGM quiet?

No, it was advertised on the website & in leaflets a couple of weeks ago......... I don't think they ever get more than about 100 [willing to be corrected] - just seems to be a turn round of attendees this time!

The only reason I would (and did last year) go to the AGM is for the Lincoln =)) =))

I did try and find a find a way to get to Cosford avoiding the M6 or what ever, but I couldn't find one.
I know it's meant to be central, but my god it's in a daft place really =))

But to be honest I agree with Paul, couldn't be bothered, way to much hassle to try and leave the house at 7am to be there for 11, takes an hour to get out of Lincolnshire =)) =))

Shame not many people did go, I'd quite like to know what was talked about.

Couldn't go this year as Rach and I had more pressing things to get on with. I know 2 years ago, the lecture hall at Cosford was about half full, last year it was standing room only. It's always nice to meet up with friends at Cosford, however this year was not viable, especially as we should all be turning up at Brunty this coming weekend for CWJ day (along with the rain no doubt, based on the present scorching weather).

I feel a bit sorry for the club and committee as they do try to get things done - it would appear that a 3rd party has messed things up again for them. Perhaps having the date set by Xmas might help people with planning and then if the paperwork comes out well before the return date, they should get a better uptake on attendees. Perhaps a different location for 2011?

It would seem the only news so far from the day is that Martin has said Test Flights should be mid June, then its waiting on CAA and MA. I forsee headaches in the next few weeks in the run up to Waddo then - especially for the airshow organising team, and naturally all at VTTS.

But hopefully not as last minute as the two previous years.

Even if it was very exciting in 2008 watching the PDAs from my doorstep :ymapplause: :D
And the lady reporter on look north getting very excited when the paperwork came through \:D/
I still have the footage saved on my freeview box :)) :D

It was stated on TVOC forum that this the 3rd year for Cosford. Like Helen intimated a 2-3 hour trip for a day out is OK - but for a meeting when you've been 2 years previously & seen the museum may not hold the same attraction.

I was thinking today where else they could hold it - Duxford, Coventry, Newark spring to mind but I'm not sure if they have enough sitting room for a large meeting - any other ideas?

Someone mentioned the Petwood, but like us getting to Cosford, it would be the same for others trying to find their way to Lincolnshire =)) =))

I'd love to see it at Newark, but as you say, I don't know how much room they have, unless they seat us all outside in a tent or something :))
or they borrow the car auction cantre ;)

Where ever it's held it won't suit everybody.......but I think it's better to shift it around a bit!! [note the eloquent way I phrased that!!]

There will be a report on the meeting uploaded to the club section of the vulcantothesky website in due course.

I trust that is satisfactory?

I was there too! ;)

Turnout was around 120-150 people: down on last year, but more than in 2008. Most of the meeting was dedicated (naturally!) to Club business - committee changes, fundraising success in 2009, accounts, plans for the year, long session and debate about the proposed revisions to the Club constitution (presented and chaired by me - you didn't miss much!) and a few resolutions submitted by the membership.

Nobody from the Trust attended except Colin Marshall - Robert, Andrew, Mike and Michael all gave their apologies.

Martin W gave a short speech thanking the Club for their invaluable hard work and support, then gave an update in relation to the current engineering situation and plans for the air show season. As mentioned above, they are hoping for a test flight (or flights if necessary) mid-June, allowing a week for the PtF paperwork and with the first show being Waddington. Martin then took questions from the audience - nothing tricky asked! IFR situation ongoing, but they are hopeful of a positive outcome shortly.

Meeting closed after 3 hours, whereupon we broke for 30 min before reconvening with the Volunteers session that lasted around 2h 15min.

Final figures for last year were £160k of donations from the Club to the Trust and an estimated 50,000 volunteer hours...

Cheers,
