Progress.....

Postby Stigish » Fri Jun 25, 2010 8:47 pm

Ladies & Gentlemen, my life today made progress \:D/ !

It all started at about 7am, with the words "Shall we go to the airport today?" Now, if any of you knew my missus, you would know that those words would probably never pass her lips unless she was repeating what i'd said already.

That was shortly followed by "We could take a picnic and sit in the viewing enclosure, Hayden (my youngest) would love it"

As you could imagine, I was on the floor in shock by this point :D .

So, we spent most of the day in the public viewing enclosure at Bournemouth Airport today. I was a really quiet day for departures/arrivals but there were a few. Made better by the fact the barrier at the entrance had been removed, so we didn't even have to pay (normally £4) so I got me some beers on the way home :D .
The best part of the day by far was just as we were leaving. A Ryanair flight came in followed by a BMI Baby departure..................Dawn then says "I find those big ones fascinating. Isn't it just amazing how they get them off the ground in the first place? We could stay a bit longer, its getting a lot better now."

I did pinch myself a few times just to make sure. What more could I ask for today...........The sun was blazing, the sky was clear, the enclosure was pretty much ours and I'm now having a beer!

It's probably just as well I've got next week off before I start my new job, I bet she'd love to go for a drive somewhere near Lyneham ;) .

A few pics will follow.........

No, I shot them in the highest quality J-PEG setting, yesterday was a bit of a fiddle with the settings & shoot day, so I needed the most space possible on my memory card. I still haven't given myself enough time to read the manual and put all the tips to practice. I was basically relying on the sport mode with the AF on before, so I wanted to test out different shutter speeds etc yesterday. The problem was, I was fighting a losing battle against the 12' fence. Being a shortarse and not wanting to invest in a new ladder meant most of the shots were of a lovely shiny fence X( .

We went to monkey world today and I realised how difficult it is to snap animals, especially through glass/fences. I gave up in the end as I didn't have any patience left after the temperature went past 30.

I'll be shooting in RAW for my sisters wedding in August as I'm looking to experiment with the pics at a later date, so all tips will be appreciated.

I was flicking through some photography magazines in Tesco yesterday and there was one that was giving loads of tips on airshow photography, I can't remember which one it was, but it had some helpful stuff.

You guys (and Mayfly) who are Canon owners might want to try this mag.

http://www.myfavouritemagazines.co.uk/p ... scription/

I've had a subscription since January and it's a blooming good read. Loads of hints/tips etc and its all for Canon users.#Very good DVD with each issue too.

If its in the july issue, then surely it must be out already :p ? Most magazines I read come out up to a month before the date on the cover..........If not earlier?

Is it a publication you can pick up straight from the self, anyone?

Yes it is available in most of the Major Supermarkets straight off the shelf, but NOT the top one like most of your reading material!!!!
