A very distinctive howl is drifting across Lyneham as I type. Started about 1845 and is still running as I type at 1930.

The reason that nobody posted here first, is that we have been out on the airfield all day, nowhere near a computer and we have just finished a 16 hour day's work.

I can confirm that we did the engine runs this evening and that RR had no hand in what we were doing. Oh, the engine runs were fine by the way, despite what you read on any other fora.

We also checked the flying controls set up.

We parked on the pan afterwards, fixed a minor snag and didn't bother refuelling because we can do that in the morning when we are less knackered.

This will probably be my last post until next year's servicing, because all we have to do now is clear several reams of paperwork and figure out when we can slip an airtest in.

We have tried to keep you updated with the information when we can, and I must confess I feel a little miffed at some of the comments that have been made; after all, we are all (hopefully) pulling in the same direction of this forum - aren't we?

According to gen on Lynham website 558 is due to take off between 15:00 & 15:30 travelling to Brize, according to VTST site someone has posted that the PtF has been issued and someone else has posted that she requires a compas swing at Brize :D

Andrew Edmondson's posts on the VTST forum were a little confusing. 558 has paperwork for a 2 hour test flight today and will land at Brize. All going well they can then finish the PtF application.
