from what I remember they drained all fluids from BA Concorde so they couldn't fly again - but happy to be corrected!!!
In memory of a very dear friend - Mike Pearson

Very fond memories of Robbie Gilvary - DTs 1st Vulcan Captain who taught DT all he knew.

I heard a rumour the engines are still on board so...... Would BA do the same as the French?

PS

It (G-BOAB) does look good from the outside and some of BA engineers look after it but from what I can remember it was decommissioned at the same time with (as Pam said) all fluids drained etc ready to go on display at T.5 which sadly hasn't happened to date. The engines may still be in place but wont have been run for a very long time as this was one of the 2 Concordes that weren't modified following the Paris crash (the other was 'AA which went to the Museum of Scotland at East Fortune - it's wings were removed and it was transported by barge!). It may also have been robbed for parts to keep the others going until 2003

FYI, history of G-BOAB: http://www.concordesst.com/208.html

That's nonsense, if I may say so. ~x( ~x(

SNECMA got the reheat bit because the French Government insisted on a French involvement in the engines, and the system requirements were such that even SNECMA couldn't screw it up. The system they produced had fixed settings (ie just off, low or high) purely to provide take-off boost and to get the aircraft through the sound barrier.

By comparison, the system produced years before by Bristol Siddeley for the 320 engines in TSR2 was fully modulated (i.e. throttleable) and available over the full operating envelope.
Sooty

One Olympus 301 has twice the power of a complete F1 starting grid.
XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.

B) I HAVE to go, cause I've never properly seen a Concorde (or heard) move...
