Mosquito Art Project WIP

Postby ActionArt » Sat Jun 12, 2010 2:29 pm

I know it's been a while but I finally got after the Mosquito project. Just working on the main model right now. Here's a preview. A lot of the details aren't in yet (engine exhaust, intakes etc.) but let me know if you see any errors :) The canopy is not quite right yet I'll have to work on that.

This image will show Stuart May shooting down 2 v1's. He got 2 in one flight once.

Cheers!

I know it's been a ridiculously long time but here's an update :)

There are still many things missing on the Mosquito itself, I've mostly been working on the background. In this scene the pilot shot down two V1's, one of them is shown exploding on the water behind (which he said they did).

I have to add many details to the aircraft and the guns will be firing with strikes on the V1 in the foreground.

Any suggestions are most welcome!!

Wonderful work Len! It is amazing to visualize what it could have been like.

For those other than yourself, I am Stuart May's daughter. He is traveling to Alberta this week (Sept 27 - Oct. 2) to visit the Mosquito on exhibit there and meet with 418 Squadron reps.

All the best and we plan to see you there. Will be in touch.

The pilot of this aircraft, Stuart May, came to visit the Edmonton museum yesterday where I had a chance to meet him. They have a good Mosquito flight simulator set up and he flew it like nothing!

Will he be involved with the PRINT Len?

Oh yes, he has been involved all along and when I met him yesterday he went over it carefully. He was very happy with it. He had no changes (other than the details needed on the aircraft itself) so I'm happy about that.

Just working on those right now!

He'll be signing is when it's complete.

Any suggestions on how to make it better are always welcome :)

Well, I'm getting close to the end now. Just some details on the Mos. itself.

On these night shots it's really hard to get the right exposure on the computer monitor so I'm never sure how it's coming across on another screen (no two are ever the same) but I hope this is a close with most settings. Getting the print just right is tricky too but once it's done at least it stays the same :)

I think I'm finally done (just minor things left). Stuart May, the pilot of "Flame McGoon" shot down two V1's in one night. It was a fine evening's work that let some people have a good sleep that night.

Here's some close up shots that are way better:
