AAC visit 8th December 2010

Postby MOD » Tue Oct 26, 2010 6:49 pm

Is there anyone here who would be interested in this visit to the AAC at Middle Wallop?

http://www.vulcantothesky.org/phpBB3/vi ... 8028#p8028

The AAC Historic Flight is unlikely to fly next season unless some much needed funds can be raised.

As the VTTS Club is , quite rightly, only interested in one particular aircraft I thought you guys (and gals) might be keen to support several Iconic Aircraft.

From the last visit ..

eyebeedubya123 . BTW where is that yank these days?

That's a shame Pam. The 'first hand' stories from Afghanistan involving the Apaches are amazing.

I might be up for that one seeing as its not to far from me. It'll depend on work commitments etc though.

It's actually capable of doing so much more than it's Rules of Engagement will allow. Apparently even the US forces on the ground prefer to call up support from the AAC's Agusta Westland AH-1 rather than their own Boeing AH-64 .

This will be my 3rd visit and I can't wait to get back. Especially as the AAC's Historic Flight needs some financial support.

Hi mate. I haven't been posting much anywhere recently. Things at the VTTSC are getting a little fraught and it's nice to visit a site discussing aviation in general, in a calm relaxed atmosphere. ~x(

Fingers crossed for XH558 but if it doesn't fly again it's not the end of the world. I feel more sympathy for the engineers and admin people yet again. If she doesn't fly I would like to see her fast taxying at Brunty with the CWJs rather than going abroad. It's a pity 558 couldn't join XM655 fast taxying at WM as that would be some show. ;)

Yeah guys were saying that, [and they were quite jealous of our kit] they also said that in most cases their presence is sufficient to make the enemy withdraw! and only one needs to expose themselves as they can send the co-ords to others without the transmission being detected - brilliant!!

PS love the name Middle Wallop!!! appeals to my sense of humour :))

Can't make the visit this time around, but thoroughly recommend it having been on the one earlier in the year! We were well looked after. Only tip I can give is avoid moving the discussions onto ice hockey! :))

Me - I prefer ' A pint o' your 'Best Wallop' barman' :))

Olicat - these tours were the brainchild of WO2 Stuart Girdler ( soon to get his Pips! - fingers crossed). And yes the visit is on a Wednesday. Stuart does these in his own time and then makes up the time later !!

He is a Scot with a fund of great stories and unusually for his race , he is T-total !! Hence I usually take him some cans of something called IRN-BRU !! :-o.

As Gully intimated he also has a weird passion for ice-hockey - what the puck that is all about is beyond me. It sounds a bit too cold and violent to be an enjoyable sport for my tastes. Strange really when you think I used to be a Hull City supporter. :((

Ian. You redeemed yourself by saying "used to be" there =))

That's like me admitting to being a Man City & Scunthorpe supporter.................oh...................hang on :))

Edit: Your name and Hull made me think. I used to work with a guy called Eddie Waudby from Hull about 20 years ago, any relation?
