Once BAe had finished with the airframe it was leased to British Airways for whom it plied various UK (mainly Scottish) routes, before eventually being sold to the Sri Lankan Air Force in the early 1990's. In 1995, it was shot down by a SAM fired by Tamil separatists on approach to home base: all on board perished...
