XM606 - Louisana's Vulcan

Would indeed be great ! And precisely why I joined 655MaPS in the first place, its the aircraft that matter and seeing a Vulcan kept in good nick through sheer hard work and determination is just wonderful.and its fun too. As Bovril said, its only a plane trip away to 606 !!!

Well, best thing to do would have the people in charge of 655 contact the people in charge of 606. WHo knows? Maybe somethign could be worked out that when 655 is put to bed for the winter, a sunny trip to louisiana could be on the cards?

Nice idea, but XM655 is never "put to bed for the winter" - the winter period is when most of the work (except painting) is done. January and February 2011 will be taken up with removing, inspecting and (hopefully) reinstalling our No 3 engine.

If the weather is anything like it was last year for the same work on No 4, we'll be freezing to death.

Probably never happen but I wonder how much work it would involve getting 606 running again? At lest electrically with the aapp etc.?

well.... going by the pictures online she looks in good shape inside the wheel wells etc.. Has anyone seen inside her?

I would hazard a guess that the good weather where she lives has helped to preserve her well!

I am particularly sorry to know of the deteriorating state of XM606 as I was the Captain of the crew that flew her in 1974 to win the Strategic Air Command Navigation Trophy. Like all the Vulcans, she was a fantastic aircraft & deserves a better fate.
