I did read somewhere that the TVOC guys had been removing bits recently but don't know if thats true - I would have thought by now they would have got what they want.

Shame but we all knew 603s life was coming to an end. :(

Any new news on XM603? Is it still in one piece or lots of bits.

Rumour has it she is safe until mid-year. ;)
Sooty

One Olympus 301 has twice the power of a complete F1 starting grid.
XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.

Found these pics on the internet, from 1995, 1999, 2007 and march last year

http://www.edendale.co.uk/ANW/WFD.XM603.3.html

She doesn't look healthy, yet she somehow only looks dirty. But after 30 odd years outside, i wonder how structurally intact that airframe is?

Not very from what I've heard. I think the MaPS Guys will be able to tell you more as they had some bits off her in the not too distant past.

:( its such a shame she is soon to be no more. Its also sad that the only vulcan preserved in the anti-flash white is now leaving us, imagine XH558 flying with no re-fueling probe, and in the anti-flash white. She would look splendid. 603 was nearly airworthy apparently to in the 90's, but now she isn't even fit for static display :(

i dont like the anti flash, its quite boring..

as for the aircraft, when we last visited, I had to move the trailing edges from some of the elevons as they where failling off :(

I prefer the camouflage but it would be different to see it in white. And that doesn't sound good, sounds like shes crumbling away.

It's a crying shame the way she's been left to rot, by the very firm that produced this wonderful aircraft. It was a true icon in it's day.. :( :(
I remember it on it's day of delivery from the RAF, such a magnificent machine.
