Got a nice connie in Swindon (Wroughton Science Mueseum) in a hangar...shame she will never fly again .....

The way things seem to be there - unlikely to be seen by anyone, let alone flying.

They do have open day about once a month where you can go for a look round the hangars.... it appears in the local press etc...

I have a lot to do on Saturday, but I expect
there will be photos and vids of Connie's
rollout, and I will post up what I find as soon
as I find it.........

Some leverage might be provided by the UK Breitling
Retailer's Association......

I'm sure THEY would LUV to see it happen!

They could sell more STUFF!

Skyways of London used to operate a couple of Connies in the 60`s
for flights to various bits of Europe-- hairy being a passenger in those days

I thought the Australian HARS Constellation made
airshow and other appearances all over your country.....

The Connie is loved in Australia perhaps more than
anywhere else, and I hear HARS is working on getting
a second one flying, too!

I think the fellow behind the camera is either a
pro basketball player or is on STILTS!

She still hasn't flown since the respray.

I guess they have to make sure no paint got
anywhere it wasn't supposed to go!

I E-mailed the Breitling Connie people and just got an answer..........

Evidently, your CAA doesn't allow them to carry Pax, even
members of their own flyers association, so this makes it
very expensive to bring the aircraft to the UK..........

It would take some kind of a special exemption from the
CAA or some other major sponsorship to get her across the
channel, I guess..........

Otherwise, he said, they would LOVE to come to England, and
would do so if the sponsorship money were there.

I suggested that he contact the Breitling office in London, but
that was in my reply.

Maybe he Will!

Do any of you think the CAA might relent on this?

They would basically bring a planeload of enthusiasts to one of
your UK venues for the duration IF THEY COULD.

Regarding European Regs,

I don't think so!

They fly everywhere ELSE in Europe, just
not to the UK.......

It has to be the CAA's fault here.

Even though they have bigtime sponsorship
from Breitling, it's the Pax from the Flyers'
Association that keeps them in the black.

The tone of the E-mail was of a little bit of
frustration, and I think they'd really like to
have the chance to solicit new members from
among(st) you Brits!

AND perhaps even have regular flights for
members both to and from!
