Had it confirmed today:

XH558 WILL NOT BE MOVING, AT ALL, UNTIL ALL GUESTS HAVE CLEARED THE SITE.

We don't have clearance for a public display. "Accidental" fly overs are ok. 558 Taking off is completely in our control and CANNOT happen whilst paying guests are there.

I had wondered how they were going to get round the display regs.

Tho' is an arrival and simple departure in that class?

I think it's a safety issue as much as anything. We don't have adequate crowd control or fire cover.

I'm only going on what I've been told. Chances are, this will change on the day ;)

I'm not shooting the messenger, but I was fortunate to attend the Coventry fly in last year. As we know the pilot that day was obviously reading his newspaper as he came into land and much to the disgust of the vast crowd there had to abort the landing at the last minute and open the throttles up and go around again :) :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XqSRYd_liY

Equally the crew decided about four o'clock they had had enough of all the hanging around and took off with all the crowd there!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKMrrwQH ... _embedded#!

I wonder how this was allowed as there was no permission to display there?

(PS I've already seen a V bomber take off at Cold war jets day anyway :) :)

A take off and landing should make no difference - and on landing at an airfield you are unfamiliar with it is good housekeeping to go round and before landing.
