H-H went GLIDING !!!!

Postby Hula-Hoop » Tue Jun 28, 2011 6:49 pm

On saturday the 25th of June I was lucky enough to go gliding with some of my fellow Cadets at RAF Syerston. :D Cadet Williams probably my best freind there was kind enough to take some photos of me when I was up there and of me getting ready and things like that, so I thought i'd show you some of those photos!

There was a chair in the breifing room that you learned to strap yourself up in.

Me in my flying suit this is before I flew as you can see it was quite windy.

Fisher, Clark and I standing getting told what is in the cockpit. ( I am holding the cockpit window open)

One of me going up.

These two are from the front seat of the surronding area.

Also on my third flight of the day my instructor told me that after excelling at basic handling on my second flight, he felt confident with me at the controls so he told me we are at 1500 feet at 70 knots I had control so I put the aircraft on its right side and banked hard to the right, he then asked for my sick bag and threw up. After that he said he was sorry and that he didn't expect me to be that confident at doing manuovers like that. :p

Excellent H-H. What's next? A Tutor/Tucano/Hawk?? ;)
BTW Could you become a fast jet pilot these days wearing specs?
BTW2 I do think you look a bit like Chris Evans ( the Ginger Whinger) in your first photo =))

No joking, i was thinking exactly the same thing :-o :))

It looks awesome!

I haven't been gliding yet, but i hope too soon!
It's a shame in some cases when we go flying because you can't really take a camera to Boscombe Down, however at upavon (for gliding) i think you might be able to.

Thanks for posting these, its interesting to see something 'from the cockpit' :)

Thank you all for the nice comments I am hoping to get in a tutor next we do the tucano comes when I am fifteen and try for my basic pilot scholarship. I am hoping to go in a Hawk next year on summer camp!!!! We can go in a tutor after my first complete solo flight in a glider which will be next time I fly in one. I think you can fly with specs.

I got in the Tutor before the Viking :-o

There's a Flt Sgt at our cadets who was selected to fly in a Hawk, the Cadet originaly chosen was not 'the right size' and an Ejection would've damaged his legs so he was chosen instead!

Whereabouts do you fly from?

I have done (in control):
Several wingovers
Several loops
A half cuban eight followed by a reverse half cuban eight
and I have done a stall turn, only the instructor did the rudder work

I have also followed through the instructor in some things like landing and takeoff
That is what I have done, from 2 flights at the controls :)

I haven't been gliding yet so i'll probably find out more when i do :)
