RIP Peter Twiss

Peter Twiss OBE DSC a great test pilot and the first to fly above 1000mph in the Fairey Delta 2 has died at the grand age of 90.

R.I.P Peter
One of the rare breed of post war test pilots. Read his obituary this morning - fascinating tale of him landing the FD.2 from 30000' following engine failure. He could have ejected at any point but choose to glide and make a forced landing on the aircrafts nose wheel at 170 mph at Boscombe Down. He was unable to get the main gear down due to insufficient hydraulic power.
