I know Danforth mentioned it a while ago, but, would anyone else be interested in a "Walkaround" video of the Guppy? It'd be exactly as it sounds, I'd walk around the aircraft, showing all the work we've done and provide some, hilarious, commentary on the way

You've already been asked, so
Get To It!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know, but filming, editing and uploading seems like a lot of effort for 1 view on YouTube. That said though, I've got 290+ followers on Facebook, so, I could do it for them as well.

Between (among?) Here, Facebook, Yootoob and
your own resto-site, I think you will get PLENTY
of Views!

Plus, you can zap it over to NASA and Boeing, too......

Who needs to edit? A little planning and someone
to assist and you're Good to Go!

Just think it out before you shoot!

(...oh, and don't go if it's raining....)

A few before and afters from today:

I reckon I'll be running out of weather soon. It started to feel like longsleave kind of weather today. Getting quite cold and damp in the evening, the paint's taking longer to dry.

I've filmed the walkaround video today, on my own, so it needs editing but I'll get on it tonight

OK, so I'm giving up the video as a bad job. I can't get the edited version to encode. It's been kicking my ass all day and I'm not spending any more time on it. The unedited version is fine, it's just it was so windy, you can't hear anything but wind noise, so, I dubbed it over with a soundtrack and added subtitles, but, it just won't encode.

I'll install adobe premier and use that, windows movie maker is rubbish anyway :)

If you want to see the (Very) rough version here it is, but, have your speakers off!

I'll, either, re-do it in premier, or, film it again on a less windy day

Yes, isn't the wind a killer????????

I'll PM you next couple of days with
some ideas for doing it better......

Thanks for the effort, it was STILL
good to look at, Gaz!

A little planning and you'll be fine......

GAZ:::::::::

#1: Not on a Windy Day!

#2: Get someone with vid experience to do the camera work.

(you are the "talent")

#3: Get AWAY from the aircraft for 1/2 of the shots.

(people want to see the Whole Aircraft from different angles...)

#4: Plan what you're going to do/say in advance.

(but you don't HAVE to be scripted..........)

#5: Do something to show the VOLUME of the interior.

#6: Fire Up the Instruments, if you can........

I know I'm not a videographer, but i DO know what goes
into a good one.

With just a little planning, Gareth, I
KNOW you can do this!

Get a good helper, and you're SET!

It should actually be viewed as a FUN
thing to do, not a Chore to be Dreaded!

Go out and Play "Presenter"!

Still too windy!

It was a nice warm day though, so, I got the orange bit on the rear of the port side done, also, Matt (Resident Brunty go-to guy) lifted me up on the telehandler and I, finally, got the yellow done around the very front of the aircraft. Not been able to reach it until now so it's a big step. BUT, I was stretching a bit to be able to reach it all and, I think, it doesn't look too good. I've been assured it's fine and far better than it was, it's just, I'm not happy with it. Once it's weathered a bit and I've had a chance to tidy the lines up, I'll post a picture.

EDIT:

Anyone want to spend $80 on me??

I am CERTAIN that the vendor will be
Happy to GIVE you the kit once he/she
knows your situation!

I suggest you e-mail them a link to the
Guppy Resto site and see what happens!

(...yeah, Right!)

Danf.

I'd do it anyhow, though..........

5.10.11

VERY windy today, so, high altitude painting would have been a bit risky. So I set to in the cargo hold.

Cop this for a before and after!

An official letter has been sent to a certain US government agency, requesting a shipset of MLG tyres.

It's looking promising!

12.10.11

'orrible weather and the lift has gone walkabout again, so, I did the port side emergency hatch, well, the red anyway.

Blurry before

And after:

I also finished off a prop set. The one I did today (upper right as you look at it) will probably need a bit more attention. It was in a pretty bad way and hasn't responded all that well to paint. Think it'll need the belt sander. Anyway:

It looks a bit better ;)

http://www.superguppy.co.uk has gone through 8000 hits! THANK YOU!!

EDIT:

JUST had an email from "My friend". A set of MLG tyres have been shrink wrapped on a pallet, awaiting a signature!

Had a small window in the weather today so I managed to get the hatch finished

and do the blue over the wing

It was nice to be able to get a bit done, I kind of resigned myself to doing indoor jobs for the foreseeable. Nice when the weather works in your favour!
