COR! Thanks D4th, I'm SO GLAD that Breightling overprice their watches to the extent that they can fund this lovely old stuff! :ymapplause:

Just a note or two::::::::::

Exhaust Flames (which we love to see...) are
NOT good on a Constellation at startup. It can
be a sign of engine problems. Takeoff power
and climbout power are Fine for Flames, however.....

Constellations use-up a Hellacious Quantity of
Oil on startup. I recall a figure of well over 20
US gallons of oil burned during a typical engine
starting sequence.

And Really! Does anyone on here OWN a Breitling
Timepiece?

Pam? Does DT have one?

I need to know!

This starts out very boring, but they
are flying into the Alps, and the scenery
just gets wilder and wilder as they go.......

Skip forward a little and you'll be glad
you watched!

Mayfly: I think you and DT ought to join
the Connie Flyers Assn. and do this!

You have to join to be eligible to book
flights. I think 90 Euros for one member,
and far less for member #2.

Flights, of course, cost additional but
not at all exhorbitant........

Thanks Mr West, what a great video of two lovely subjects only spoilt by the awful editing in the first part! :-o

The reason I asked, Pam, is that I hope
to leverage a Constellation visit to UK
for 2012. If Breitling knew that Influential
Brits love her and would really like to see
her, then they might be inclined to sponsor
the trip in the same way they do for France
every year......

Influential Brits? Your Ladyship and DT both
come to mind.........

The Connie Flyers Assn. would LOVE to come
over, but they would need some kind of Paid
Pax situation, which CAA rules will not permit!

She IS, after all, X-Pensive to fly!

So, anyone else wear a Breitling?

Me? I just have a few Omegas.........

I know Breitling have done a few special edition watches for BBMF [at least 2 different ones], Concord, The Reds, lots of other I would have thought, then there is the wing walkers, I'm surprised they haven't thought about letting the Connie come over but I also she is expensive because DT made enquiries for Waddington.

Pam:::::::::::

Breitling doesn't OWN the Constellation,
but they are the primary sponsor.

What I've been told is that they would
need to foot the bill, absent any other
major support.

If Waddo can't afford her, then I think
Breitling needs to step up!

What do YOU think?

She could make the jump and stay for
a short while, maybe......

Not Too Late for 2012!

Yeah I know it's only sponsored D4th. I suppose thinking about it they sponsor the wing walkers over here and I suspect that gives them as much advertising in the aviation market as they need.

Doesn't mean I can't LEAN on them a little........

Waddington is one thing, but something like
RIAT has an international audience!

I've received word from Breitling UK that
they are now "looking" at aviation-related
sponsorships in your country for 2012......

I think that at least my timing was good,
and I tried to make a strong case, but I
believe I am dealing with a lower-level
employee.

She seems nice, however, and I will just
wait to see what happens.

I will cogitate and maybe ask you all to
send e-mails, but not yet...........

I'm shooting for several appearances all
centered around RIAT.

Why come all that way and just go back
home right away???????????

Here's one of my recent e-mails::::::::::::::

Dear Charlotte Price::::::::::

Many thanks for your swift reply!
Just for your further edification, I DO know that the
Waddington Air Show investigated having your Connie
for next year, but the cost was simply prohibitive.....

WITHOUT Breitling Support.

One would think that a single "jump" over to UK and
then perhaps making several appearances might be a
better thing. And after all, RIAT with its international
draw might be your most attractive centrepiece venue,
but then "making the rounds" a little afterwards......

Last of all, just let me say I'm fairly certain the public
reaction to Connie in your country will surprise you!

I can send you evidence of this if you would like..........

I know your firm sends her to France and Germany
most years, perhaps 2012 will be England's turn.

I will look forward to hearing from you, Ms Price!

Hoping it Happens;

Danforth West

When I have a clearer idea of the landscape, I MAY
ask you all to send e-mails.

Will advise......

I just visited the Connie Flyers Assn. website
and found THIS!

http://www.superconstellation.org/Content/showContent.aspx?type=news-flash&id=822

It COULD be just their DC-3, and there is a
big fat disclaimer at the bottom, but I do
see Farnborough clearly listed for 2012 for
at least one of their aircraft............

QUICK!

What UK airshows are just before, during or
just after Farnborough?

Well, I got a very ambiguous e-mail reply
from the Connie Flyers Assn. indicating
they ALWAYS book in at Farnborough but
without aircraft.

Whether this means they just have a booth
or if it's to ensure they have a place in the
program(me) if Breitling comes through, I just
don't know!

Don't think I have EVER seen them list that
show on their schedule before, though........

I DO think maybe I'm becoming a nuisance!

ME???????????
