Probably unconnected but at Waddo I overheard a conversation that suggested the trust were unhappy with someone who posted on various forums under different names and that they'd talk themselves out of a job.

If its not Gordon someone else better watch their back. Suppose it comes with not following the party line, no different from anywhere else then!

It is the Trust I have issues with, as for the club? I have no problems with the club or its members( well, some members and I have had disagreements in the past).

As for being talked out of a job, I would jump at the chance to work in the shop at RHA full time paid, that is why my wife and I offered to fill this post ( 5 days a week )and move closer, but seeing as though the plans are for a full time `professional manager` to run the shop and stall in the hanger, and manage 120-200 local volunteers, our offer was declined. ;)

I too am getting disillusioned with the club and trust, I can't see myself renewing my membership next year.

It seems a shame. The CLUB do very good work, they've managed to raise the funds to keep the scrapman at bay for years now. Whether they like it or not though, they ARE inextricably linked to the trust. When one fails, they both look bad.
NB; Any negative comments I post about the Vulcan are posted SOLELY to wind Gregg up!

Yeah Gaz, you're quite right!

I should clarify that I don't have a problem with the club side of things.

They do great work keeping the old girl flying.

It's just a shame that things elsewhere overshadow the great work they do.

I think the trust will realise this when things are too late I fear.................... :(

I much appreciate my question being answered. I fully support what the Club do. Like others I do sometimes have reservations about the way the trust go about things but you can't please all of the people all of the time.

The Friends scheme is a great idea but different levels depending on what you contribute? If all supporters give what they can afford doesn't that make them equal. I would hate to see invitations to future functions depend on what you've given and others being excluded because someone has decided they haven't given enough. Smacks of elitism if this were to be the case and support could actually be lost rather than encouraged.

Anyone else got any views on this?

Here You Go!

558 belongs to your country as a whole and to all
of the people who have supported her over all this
time. The two men at the top have her firmly in
their grip, and they are unlikely to give this up
no matter what else happens. I've finally, after
years of caring, decided that the only important
thing is for her to fly. Justice in this case will
never be served, and the ones who have claimed
credit will probably continue to be given it......

That's the way the world works......

My Hat, however, is off to the flight crews and the
engineers who have seen things through despite
the monumental EGOS of two men who have, in
reality, not done much. She flies in spite of them,
not because of them.

All Club Members and Donors and Sponsors can
claim their rightful place and be PROUD that 558
is in the air where she belongs!

I don't think the Trust is doing anything out of the ordinary in the charity fundraising world - many Friends schemes have differing benefits based on what you as an individual are contributing. I look at the escalating benefits packages as a Trust initiative to endeavour to pursuade people to move up to the next level of giving and there being an incentive for so doing.

Some will always be able to give more than others. Donating £5.58 per month may be more difficult to an individual than someone else giving £558.00 per month, but such inequalities are never going to be resolved by VTTS! People will give what they wish to and can afford to IMO - I don't think the Friends scheme will change the way most existing donators give (although it will at last recognise them), but hopefully it will attract new people and the model of many people giving small amounts will succeed in keeping '558 flying for as long as possible.
