U2 Out Of Fairford

Postby Hydealfred » Sun Mar 18, 2012 12:16 pm

Just noted on Plane Plotter that a U2 left Fairford this morning. Nice to see they are still operating over here. Currently heading North West climbing to 60,000'.

There has been a fair amount of U2 traffic in and out of Fairford lately, I was privileged to see one on finals when visiting friends near the base a few days back, what a great sight ! I understand that they have also been sighted over Wales. With a bit of luck they ll have one there for RIAT ?? Wouldnt that be ace :D

Seeing a U-2 do a landing, what with the
tremendous skill required plus the chase
vehicles tearing down the runway, is an
exciting and memorable experience!

Takeoffs are great, too, with the aircraft
seeming to just "Pop" into the air!

ADDENDUM:::::::::::

BAD LANGUAGE ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is why you will probably NOT EVER
see a T/O or Landing Demo of the U-2::::::::

I think the U2s are transiting to and from operations in Afghanistan!

TSR-2 simply got the first 3 right. ”
