Good news for the region Unite said 200 jobs would be saved at Brough
In memory of a very dear friend - Mike Pearson

Very fond memories of Robbie Gilvary - DTs 1st Vulcan Captain who taught DT all he knew.

Jolly good news, a combination of 55 x PC21s and 22 x Hawks! :ymapplause:

Sky News should be ashamed of themselves using that particular photograph to illustrate their story; there must be thousands of more appropriate pictures available as stock photos

I agree completely. When I read it, neither the top photo or that one had loaded by the time I finished. It is quite despicable X( X(

I have posted a comment at the bottom of the story but doubt it will help X(

Have just sent the email to Sky

Ladies,

RE: http://news.sky.com/home/business/article/16233754

I wish to complain in the strongest possible terms about the inclusion of an image of the BAE Hawk aircraft that caused the death of Flt Lt Sean Cunningham last November (see link)
http://www.raf.mod.uk/reds/teamnews/ind ... 86C7FD410D

I feel that is most insensitive to the memory of Flt Lt Cunningham and his family that such an image be used. I would be grateful if you would remove said image immediately and I expect an apology by return.

I shall be contacting the MOD and advising of the insensitivity by your news staff.

Nickolas Reeks

I have just spoken to the duty press officer at MOD on 02072183256 ( If any one fancies giving them a call too).

Going to look and see if anything has been changed! ;)

Well well well, the Hawk shot has changed! Some of my faith in human kind has been restored! :D

The image has been changed. Hopefully not too many people concerned saw this.

If Sky reply to my emails I might suggest that a charitable donation might be made to pour oil over troubled waters......

I can feel the FLYING PIG Squadron warming up as I write this, personally I would just be happy that they changed the POORLY CHOSEN Hawk picture! ;)

Well done Charles,Nick and Kev.. :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

The choice of photo was a crass mistake, by someone without any understanding of the significance of that 'fired' ejection seat. :( Now if the call had gone out for a 'stock' photo of, say, Cheryl Cole or Mrs Rooney, instead of a Red's Hawk then, ..... who knows? :(

ibw

BTW although those involved with this Sky News piece are all female my comments have nothing to do with sexism as I know of at least a couple of my own close friends who would probably not have spotted this gaffe.
(Mind you they would also not have a clue who Cheryl Cole or Mrs Rooney were either). :p

This comes back to the same situation as the Jubilee flypast commentary, journalists who know nothing about everything!
