canberra wing tank wanted

Postby P-38 » Sun Jun 17, 2012 3:50 pm

hello aviation guys, i really need your help, i am trying to locate and purchase a canberra wing tank, actually, it does not have to be from a canberra but at around 14ft long, 36" diameter and constructed from aluminium, a canberra tank is the perfect candidate.
i will follow up any lead however small, thankyou, joe.

The WT333 guys at Bruntingthorpe have an old one. It's a bit dented, but, it might be worth following up

Am I dreaming or did someone ask a similar question a few months back? Not specifically for a Canberra wing tank but for a drop tank which was going to become the streamlined covering for a motorbike land speed runner?

Deja-vue isn't what it used to be.. :( (I've a feeling I've already said that...) :(

hello gaz,
yes, it was me, my buddy ben and i drove up and picked up the tank, i am chuffed to bits and very grateful to all the help received from you guys, we now have the hardest part of the race car secured and in a couple of years time we hope to return to bruntingthorpe for testing.
when the build starts to move along i will post a link to the blogg here and you can watch the progress, slow progress probably!
we are still seeking another tank so that we can use two bottom halves to build the body as the mounting area of the tank is not symetrical, if we can't find another we will work around the problem some how.
thanks again, watch this space, joe.

Hi Guys,
My name is Brett and I'm new to your forum. ( looks really good!). I'm following this thread on from Joe, a friend of mine who managed with your help to source a tank. He polished it beautifully but due to work commitments couldn't get any further and I ended up buying the tank from him.
The quest continues to build a belly tank racer! For the last 3 years I've been racing my model T at Pendine but the need for speed and the beauty of a belly tank has won me over!
We're starting the build and realised what we really need is a second tank so we can use the bottom half of each to make the perfect shape. So the plee for help continues, are any of you aware of another tank?
Kind Regards,
Brett.
