In this vid Rudy Opitz (Komet test pilot - now that's a job I wouldn't have fancied!!) has just such a picture on his study wall. (Over his right shoulder at 3:36).



I have to say Len that this project doesn't quite get my juices flowing like the previous ones did. imho the Komet was never an Iconic aircraft although the technology used ie liquid fuelled rocket motors to launch a piloted aircraft and then a glide back to earth, later became a very Iconic part of the Space Race after the war.

Having said that I still look forward, with great anticipation, to seeing the WIP.

Thanks for the link Mod! Some of that footage is just breathtaking. Nothing is finalized yet, I haven't even spoken to the pilot in person, just someone recommended it and told him about the possibility so we'll see.

The Komet wasn't probably the most practical aircraft but I just can't imagine a wilder ride. I'm not sure I can even capture the thrill that must have been properly.

Another possible project is a F-86 Sabre with Doug Lindsay (the pilot from the previous Spitfire project) who shot down two Migs.

Just a bit more work on this one. When I went to print the grass/crop came out too bright and saturated to I revisited the lighting and some details on the Spitfire a bit.

It seems I've lost a bit of color saturation in general. It needs a bit more on screen and maybe a bit less on print. Will have to test it a bit more.

Side by side which is how I viewed them I think it's much better if may say so - looks far more realistic in colouring IMHO, however it's how it prints that matters.

Never works that way....

I think the lighting in general is more realistic now and has a better balance. There is such a difference between viewing monitors (even calibrated ones) it's a real challenge, especially in overall brightness and saturation.

Yes and calibrating them doesn't always make it much better.

I didn't comment last week as it was all debated before I caught up with the thread TBH I thought the spit was a little lost and believed it was the brightness of the flash behind - however it wasn't that it was the greenery in the foreground.

But as I say just my opinion and the world is often out of step with me!!

there might not be some activity.....

seeing was a Sabre

OK then, I guess I better do a good job

Doug blasted 2 Migs to Mig heaven in Korea so I'll be doing one of his victories which both happened about 30,000 feet. He's collecting the details for me now.

It seems there isn't a lot of Sabre art around (compared to others) so this might be a very nice project.
