I hope this doesn’t sound a silly question but what qualifications do the crew flying XH558 need in order to be able to fly the aircraft.

Is being an ex Vulcan pilot or AEO in the RAF enough or is a civilian permit or something along those lines needed.

I know of course it would never happen but out of interest what sort of experience would be needed before I would be allowed to fly the Vulcan seeing as I have never flown anything other than a Cessna 152 once and that of course was with a flying instructor supervising me.

Now don't hold me to this but, at Newark air museum I'm Sure they told me you can fly xh558 with a ppl and i suppose you would have to have some hours on the plane befor you can legally 'fly' her

PPL and the appropriate type certification.. same as any other aircraft I would think.

You would need multi-engine quals and loads of experience with 4 engine heavy stuff, plus Vulcan experience/training before you even got your bum on into those two very enviable seats. Or be a test pilot.

Where do I apply then??
