We waited for her Sunday at Humberside, but for what ever reason she didn't make it, well she hadn't by the tame we gave up at 6pm :))

Don't know if this'll work, but here's a pic from on of the engineers.

Spooky , Helen and I were discussing on Friday that she must be due a change soon :))
Why are they doing it now though ?
The display season isn't over yet [another month left] , surely it would make more sense to do the change during the winter service :-?
Oh well , what do I know
So long "Phantom of the Rurh" :(

Yes so do I, tho' it's not the most artistic design [IMHO] it has a pleasing originality and really suits the Lanc.

Agreed here too .

But I think I've worked it out who she may be when she reappears Friday , next year is the 70th Anniversary of Operation Chastise [Dambusters raid] ;)

Very likely or another one of the raiders , the early change and the coming anniversary seem TOO coincidental to me ;)

Sort of right then , not from the raid itself but a late war 617 Sqn scheme :)

I think the art work looks like it's been well done but I don't like it as nose art for PA474 - too tweeeeeeeeeeee for me. :( tho' of course I understand the reason 617 Sqn was honoured.

Probably should put this in the spotted thread as It's not really nose art related :)) but couldn't resist. (try to ignore the dust, I can't shift it :( )

Image

\:D/ right place right time, we thought she'd be long gone by the time we got there, so we didn't bother attempting to go to Humberside to see her leave, but I spotted a massive fungus on a tree stump on the side of the road and as I was photographing it, we heard her in the distance \:D/ brilliant, couldn't believe our luck, if we hadn't stopped we wouldn't have seen her.

Here's the fungus if anyone's interested in that kind of thing =)) =))

Personally I like it, I wasn't really a fan of the Phantom scheme but that's just my opinion.
