Looks as if Lufthansa has pulled-out all the
stops on their Constellation Starliner project::::::::

Ralph "Round_engine" Pettersen informs me
there are now 50-plus people working on her
as part of a major push to get things off the
ground, as things seem to have languished
slightly for a while......

Oh, those Germans!

Has to be "Better Than New", I guess......

Fear Not, Ian.........

I'm certain Lufthansa will be wanting to
show off their Super Star once she's done.

Only 44 Starliners built, and she was the
ultimate propliner. 20-plus extra feet on
each wing, too!

Only question is when they'll get 'er done!

Sooty

One Olympus 301 has twice the power of a complete F1 starting grid.
XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.

While on the one hand I admire Lufthansa's
determination, at the same time I have to
wonder if perhaps they're over-doing things
a little bit........

It's a German Thing, I guess........

Now that was 30 minutes well spent :D . Thanks for finding this vid Dan4th :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

The fact that the commentary was in German didn't seem to matter as the video was so well edited you could follow what was going on quite easily.

I have to take my hat off to the guys from Anderson Aeromotive who were stood so close to that Wright R-3350-DA3 Turbo Compound 18-cylinder supercharged radial engine test-bed as it was fired up. :-o

BTW I wonder which of those guys was Connie-Restorer?

He hasn't visited in quite a while, but
just maybe he'll pop back on to take
a well-deserved bow :D

Anyhow, even though this vid just aired
on German television recently, the newest
vids of the Connie itself under restoration
shown were from SUMMER 2011!!!!!!!

They went all the way to Idaho this year
and didn't bother to stop by in Auburn,
Maine on the way home ~x(

It has been a Long While since I've seen
anything like photos or vids of how she
looks mid-2012 :((

Thanks D4th, Wonderful vid of the best looking Yank 4 engine prop heavy. Shame no sound on the last bit filmed from inside.

Flying was so special back then in prop piston jobs, even if you did get a headache after 8 hours of very noisy droning, but that could have been the wife! =)) =))

When was that vid done I wonder? 1950s maybe? It occurred to me that the Captain and some crew were probably WW2 vintage Luftwaffe. :D

This was promotional from Lufthansa and
was probably from 1958 which is when the
Starliners were first in their fleet...

Lockheed went to great lengths to reduce
noise in the Starliner with engines further
out on longer wings, enhanced insulation
for sound supression, and a new device
which synchronized the props so they were
all turning exactly the same :D

Less vibration = less noise.....
