Thank god it didn't happen once they were committed to taking off! As a layman it seems to be an unforgivable mistake..the motoring equivalent of having your tyres changing at one of those fast fit centres and them letting you drive out without checking they have put back your wheel nuts!

A double engine failure on take-off is well within the safe operating limits of the Vulcan, and the aircrew practice regularly for this eventuality. Not that it wouldn't cause the ejection seats and AEO's seat to need to be cleaned afterwards!

That isn't the vid I have been looking for. There was one which showed the incident from much earlier in the run. I think it was posted on Ukar, but the only link I can find now says "Vid removed by user".
