How many Vulcan cockpits have you visited?

Postby Exceptionalsleeper » Thu Nov 15, 2012 1:10 am

This is not a "show off" moment but how many of you have been fortunate to have visited a Vulcan cockpit?

To count, she must be a complete airframe and you must have at least walked up the crew entry ladder. I have been lucky enough to have visited:

XH558 - Several times and also on board during Engine Ground Run
XL426 - Vulcan 24hr Scramble
XM594
XM612 - Vulcan 24hr Scramble
XM655 - Vulcan 24hr Scramble

XM573 - Many times in the future! :D

XM655 - Tour of cockpit, and sat in right hand seat during towing operation on Friday 15th June 2012.
That is the only one I have been in.

558, loads of times, during her Bruntingthorpe years.

Couple of nose sections too, but, you said they don't count :p

Loads as a kid at Marham but would not have a clue of numbers.
Those days it was easy to get access to an aircraft cockpit if your old man was in the RAF.

Gosh, I'll have to think really hard about this one.

Oh that's right, none :p =)) =))

In fact I have never been in ANY cockpit, unless you count the Canberra nose at East Kirkby a couple of weeks ago.
I'm too scared of breaking something. So it's safer if I just stay out =)) =))

Newark's, Coventry's and Sunderland's Vulcans. Plus a couple of other cockpit sections. Much prefer the Victor cockpit...

More than I care to remember ;)

At a guess 30+ being all of Waddington Wing a/c - and their bomb bays and flown in two of them.

Just the 2 Full Cockpits/Crew Compartments: XM655 (27/10/12) & XL426 (25/09/11) - both during start up procedure and been up the ladder and peered into XH558 inc Bomb Bay (25/04/10) during Winter Service RAF Lyneham.

I wasn't aware that there were that many Vulcans. :-o
