Technically there isn't any runwayjust a grass strip.

), I know if I was restoring a priceless Lancaster I'd spend a couple of extra quid on concrete/tarmac.
This has been the subject of some debate, so here's a quick graphic to show the runway layout for the possible flights from East Kirkby by NX611.
so if there is a reserve runway, what is happening with the road between the main site & the reserve ??
It will be traffic controlled as per local authority regulations, but the aim is to mostly use the re-instated WWII main runway to a length of 6000ft. If the reserve runway is used the Lancaster will be towed over there from the main site.

There's all that (American) extension the other side of the road which looks in fairly good nick. I've seen a light aircraft land on it.
