very impressive actually. at the time my mate wasn't RN, but a civvy in charge of the sim - he was checking the operation of some software upgrades he'd just fitted to the sim and, whilst flying it, the RN Chief Instructor was standing behind him. my mate didn't know he was there!

when he landed, the Instructor asked him where he'd learned to fly a helicopter - he told him he'd taught himself on the sim! =))

the instructor said he was far better than some of his pilot pupils and encouraged him to join the RN! =))

he's now a RN Lieutenant flying choppers at Shawbury ;)

that day with him at Culdrose was ace though - over 4 hours messing about in a £7m playstation! I even managed to land in my garden \:D/

i only found the Lanc last night from a link that Mayfly gave me - http://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads- ... 25-25.html

it takes a bit of messing around though - you need these three zip files for a Lanc BIII

ftp://library.avsim.net/civil_flight/ms ... r_biii.zip - the Lancaster itself (there are a couple of others, like a BI, and a Grand-slam Lanc: ftp://library.avsim.net/civil_flight/ms ... d_slam.zip)

but you need these too:

ftp://library.avsim.net/civil_flight/ms ... ancpnl.zip - the panel (otherwise you get a modern 737 panel or summat :)) )

ftp://library.avsim.net/civil_flight/ms ... ncsnd1.zip - the sound of 4 x RR Merlins :D B-)

and once unzipped, you need to put the contents of the sound and panel folders into the same-named folders within the Lancaster BIII folder

also, to give you the correct image for when you're choosing your a/c in FSX, you need to make a "thumbnail.jpg" in the Lanc BIII "texture" folder - here's mine if you want to use it...

Image

otherwise, it just shows a generic image with a question mark :(

as for the VC10/Mozzie/Comet/Harrier etc - i really can't recall where we got them from now, but if you smile sweetly at Wedgy, he might be able to help you out ;)
