I think all the tanks were restored and
rebuilt during the time when she was
brought back to flight, but perhaps it
was the case not everything was perfect...

I'm sure they will now have a look at the
whole shebang to make certain all is well...

The supplier/subcontractor will, after all,
want to look GOOD

Seem to recall that the tanks only had a 5 year life in service ? If so, they have done pretty well so far, and how incredibly lucky that the OEM is still alive and kicking, and willing to manufacture a new one... Which presumably means that they still have the necessary tooling, another piece of luck
And it looks like she may not have flown this weekend after all, Southport has cancelled due to expected bad weather, wonder if Dublin will be ok ?? But SUCH a shame about Shoreham and particularly Bournemouth, though...
Must admit to being more than a little surprised by the relatively meagre amount of posts on this subject, very unlike Iconic.....
Fingers crossed that 558 will overcome all problems and delight us for a further 2 years at least !!

Just over 5 weeks remain in which to close the funding gap, but a vital decision could be made next week.
These newsletters have been bringing you the continuing story of our reducing cash in order to look after XH558 and we are afraid that as we write to you today, we have seen nothing like the upsurge required to make significant inroads ahead of a Trustees’ meeting next Wednesday.
We really have less than one week to convince them that once again, XH558’s supporters can pull the proverbial ‘rabbit out of the hat’ as you have done many times before.
Our recent survey showed over 94% of people who responded wanted XH558 to fly on. We really need those people to become involved if at all possible. As we indicate above, over 50,000 people now receive this email. Under one in ten are responding to this call to help XH558 financially. Please do not leave it to someone else if you can afford to give a little.
We fully appreciate times are tough and we would not want anyone to give more than they can sensibly afford. Hopefully, even a few pounds in sufficient numbers will make a BIG DIFFERENCE.
Our quest to support XH558 continues, with many initiatives underway. Recently, we identified over 10,000 supporters who could possibly be eligible for retrospective Gift Aid claims, making their donations over the last four years worth an additional 25% from the government at absolutely no cost to themselves. If someone had donated £100 in that time, we would be able to identify an additional £25 we could claim under the scheme.
So far, we have had over 2,000 people respond - a possible benefit in excess of £35,000 found already.
We'll be writing again in the next few days, just to those who have not yet replied, and to more who might also qualify. So, please look out in your inbox: if you receive an email, and are a UK tax payer, please could you help XH558? It costs you nothing, and response is very easy, just one click online, to give your details and then send: a few seconds could make the difference in our bid to keep XH558 in the air.
