Bruntingthorpe see's the End of an Era!

Postby Leebee0 » Thu Sep 26, 2013 12:17 am

Today saw the end of an era as the last flying Vickers VC10 ZA147 landed at Bruntingthorpe Leicestershire UK for scrapping.

So here are some of my pics from today. Special thanks to Dickon Dearman for taking the first six shots for me as I was filming the whole thing

So then it was over to the pan for a much closer look!

Then it was time to leave 147 to her fate and so another chapter in british aviation closes at the end of a sad day........Goodnight!

I would just like to thank everyone involved with making this happen today all at Bruntingthorpe and all you guys I met today making it a very enjoyable day out.

Thanks for looking

Lee.

Lots of sadness, though........

Hi Pam hope DT and you are well :)

It was really good to catch up with some of the old team again. I had not seen Dickon in three years. It was a great day all round although very sad.

My video from the day will be on shortly :)

Cheers

Great pictures, Lee, thanks. As you say, amazing how many old friends found their way to Brunty to see 147 land.
Have been directing people to this thread as surprisingly few pics/videos have been posted anywhere else. Maybe yet to emerge, once grit has been removed from eyes :(
Looking forward to your video :)
Any idea how long 147 will remain in one piece ??

THanks and it is surprising when you think how many people there were there maybe they want to hold on to their pics and vid :)

I am not sure but I would have thought now that 147 is there and the last they will get on quite quickly and finish the job which started way back on April 6th 2010 when XV109 and XR807 where the first to retire.

So here is my video from the day hope you enjoy these last moments...

Cheers

Great Vid, Lee :ymapplause:

I especially enjoyed the Star Wars opening
credits, a nice touch :))

I'm also convinced that the go arounds were
due to "Grit" in the cockpit :((

Lots of Grit around on that day.......
