EAP Finally Lands at RAFM Cosford

Hi all

Yes its finally here after much opposition from the Americans the paperwork sorted out EAP is on show to the public at Royal Airforce Museum Cosford. ZF534 EAP Technology Demonstrator Aircraft first flew in August 1986 and lasted until May 1991. This aircraft is truly unique with a number of firsts to its name one of those being it had the first Colour CRT full "glass" cockpit.
She of course paved the way for what we now know as Typhoon but this gave an 80's world a first look at the future a genuine next generation fighter.

This is as she is today needs a bit of work which they are doing as she is a bit scratched on the nose and towards the tail area but at least she is now on display. A big thank you to Pat for your help in gaining the positions for these shots. Enjoy

could it be because Smiths who did avionics/speech recognition etc.. have now become GE and they are American owned?

Yeah that's right mate more to do with the tech used inside than the aircraft it's self.

I remember seeing it in January 86 walking through the hangar whilst at Warton recovering a Tornado. Impressive to look at then. Looked very pretty in primer. It was undergoing fuel tests and fuel was pouring out all over the place, people running around like mad things with drip trays and buckets, memories of Lightning days
