The first link takes me to a page where there are Aircraft listed but no Lancaster. You have to log-in to download one and it costs $5 a month or something.

The other ones to the zip files asks me for a username and password.

SM have a look at the website again please, I'm sure it changed this afternoon because I was looking at it earlier & it said 'free downloads'

just wondering if you were lucky SM as I'm sure there was an area on left handside that asked for donations, so it wouldn't surprise me if it changed this afternoon

you might be right Mayfly - i usually miss these sort of things by a day, not get them by a day! =))

if i had a pound for every time I'd heard, "well if you'd come in yesterday, we had three and no-one wanted them so we threw them out!" .......... :((

i think Wedgy has a plan for the missing a/c anyway ;)

Ctrl + E Ian .
They should then start in sequence [rapid 4 engine start does not work in FSX :( ] ;)

Here we go! The flight sim event of the year. Got Dawnie to do her first flight :D

I was actually extremely impressed - hasn't caught any of the "porridge stirring" from me :))

Nice takeoff from Brize
Image

Aiming for Farnborough
Image

She actually landed well, but then made the mistake of putting full right rudder on, when she was already on the ground :(
Image

And buried it :(
Image

Next up ... the Vulcan
Image

Very smooth :)
Image

Image

Nicely lined up for a first-timer :)
Image

Image

Shame she lost too much speed and height and fell short.
Image

2nd attempt at landing, she landed on her left wing-tip and smashed it :D
Image

Danwie has asked me to pass on her deepest apologies to DT for crashing his beloved Vulcan :D

It's a much better effort than my go last night. The damn thing just wouldn't fly level then just fell out of the sky. Something not right methinks!

the secret with the Vulcan is trimming it ;)

get it to fly roughly straight and level with about 60% engine RPMs (any higher and it overspeeds, any lower and she drops out of the sky like a brick)

once at a stable speed, trim up/down so that the vertical speed reads as close to zero as possible. the trim takes a wee while to take effect, so do it one click at a time. very fiddly on the Vulcan :(

overspeeding gives Vulcan dreadful 'Mach tuck' - almost impossible to pullout of an overspeed dive =))

Well tonight was more successful with the Vulcan. This time I borrowed 824 and took off from Duxford.

Finally figured out the landing lights when I got to Heathrow

Image

Got fed up of flying in the dark so made it daylight, still at Heathrow

Image

Thought I'd go for a fly over London and then spotted City Airport

Image

City Airport with Canary Wharf, etc in the background

Parked up

must admit when I first started I found it useul to fly either at dawn or dusk as it was light enough to see where you were going but the runway lights were on so the the airfields were easy to spot :D

My first night time sortie - brief, but some of the best formation flying (according to SM).

Mayfly joined us, before Gamespy seemed to cock up :(
