Apparently the reasoning is that 'they spent most of their time outside when in service' ... yes but then they were being run every day - warmed up - maintained meticulously by professionals and not just dumped on a sewage farm and visited occasionally ... oh and guess what's coming ... winter

I bet the restorers of the Swift are none too happy either ... I feel an affinity with that airframe as I come from Leominster which is very near where the Swift languished on concrete blocks, deteriorating, through most of my youth ...

What REALLY riles me is the the very glossy VTTS website is STILL promoting fundraising and trumpeting the future...

Vulcan to the Sky Trust already has an established education programme, working with schools, colleges and other organisations. In her new life, still able to accelerate dramatically along the runway, XH558 will build on this exciting provenance to inspire and educate new generations of young people, focussing on the technical skills that our country needs so badly.

Elsewhere I have seen suggestions that the next fundraiser will be £20 to write your name under the tarpaulin with a permanent marker

The most annoying thing is that the Vulcan Trustees are not taking ownership of the failures and issues - absolutely everything is being completely ignored ... I suppose they're hoping it will all go away
They should be posting .. 'sadly things are not going to plan at the moment and we have had to etc etc

But then - no doubt - that would mean an end of ..............

I only claim copyright on the idea of a Bisto picture in a rail context when used in an ironic sense with reference to a vaguely aviation related attempt to extract excessive funds from a gullible public in order to maintain an unreasonable lifestyle.

On a related topic, 655MaPS were silly enough to offer all our members access to an engine ground run last Sunday. We also threw in two talks by Operation Corporate veterans, and it was all FREE. Apparently we should have been asking £110 per head.

The Swift from what I've read is back in 3 Hanger. It was claimed on one forum that it belongs to an VTTS employee but I'm not so sure that is correct.

I really do hope they can pull some rabbit out of the hat and although I haven't financially supported 558 for years I seriously hope any donations they get are not purely paying the wages of those who are left in the employ of VTTS.

And as far as putting names under the wing goes I feel that is just vandalism - bomb bay OK but defacing her on the outside NO.

I'm glad the Swift is safe and I agree with you about the names under the wing - yet another cynical ploy to raise funds not thought through...

By the way did anyone notice that the Shackleton boys at Coventry WR963 did an engine run today AND they ran Nimrod XV232 AND all the emergency services were displaying there ... all for the princely sum of £5 a head

The application for planning permission for the hangar has finally been submitted. Decision expected in around 10 weeks, so end-November (if they are lucky), just in time for the building trade to shut down for the winter.

Maybe it hasn't been entered online yet.
I'll check sometime next week.

Vulcan to the Sky Trust spokesman Richard Clarke said the scheme would not be able to move forwards until an investor was in place, and the trust was currently actively looking for that investor.

The trust is also currently raising funds from the public towards the costs.

He said: "We would like to think when planning permission comes forward we could move forward as soon as possible. That is the aspiration and we wanted to start the ball rolling by putting the planning application in..

"We would like to be looking at starting next year, but it is difficult to put a date on it.."

Hello all been quite a while.

There was me thinking (hang on thinking WOW ) can it really get any worse, all those promises about the future HMMM .All that waffle about the security ease of public access ,training future engineers? What a load of **** Vttsy seems about the nearest curent idea. Thoight they said the hanger would be up by next year not may be started some time in 2025 . Oh well I never believed 75% of the blurb anyway.

All I have to say now on this subject She flies on on youtube ,but now rots away beside a sewage farm what a sad sad end to an icon. The canbera is another should aparently have been in the air this year ,maybe next or then again with no engineers will it ever happen.?

Sadly, I think there are still enough gullible people out there to fund the core business of selling off all the spares, begging and paying unjustified wages and fees to the beggars.

The hangar will probably never happen, but the gravy train still has a fair way to run.
