FSX Vulcan Scramble

Postby Wedgy » Mon May 11, 2009 3:36 pm

Well, this has been around a month in the planning, but with some help from SM to tweak the route, we can now announce ......

The 1st FSX Vulcan Scramble
Wednesday 13th May 2009. Departing 2000hrs

SM and I will be flying the IRIS Vulcan 558. If anyone wishes to join us for any part of this sortie (or indeed, the whole thing) please do!! It will be available at the usual 'www.iconicaircraft.co.uk' gamespy session.

Should be good fun and at the same time 'tipping our cap' to the 3 that did it for real :D

Not many rules, but we aim to keep the same aircraft going from start to finish (e.g. Not crashing! :)) ).
We will make full landings each time, spending anywhere between 30seconds - 5minutes at each location.

Information taken from IanM's Google Maps link.
Route data in red is a substitution, where no airfield exists at the original location.

EGPH: XM597 - National Museum of Flight, East Fortune Airfield, Lothian, Scotland (Edinburgh)
EGNT: XL319 - North East Aircraft Museum, Sunderland Airport, Tyne & Wear (Newcastle)
EGNC: XJ823 - Carlisle Airport, Cumbria
EGCD: XM603 - Avro Heritage Society, BAE Systems Woodford, Cheshire
EGWC: XM598 - RAF Museum Cosford, Shropshire
EGBW: XM655 - Wellesbourne Mountford Aerodrome, Warwickshire
EGBE: XL360 - Midland Air Museum, Coventry Airport, Warwickshire
EG74: XH558 - Bruntingthorpe, Leicestershire
EGNX: XM575 - East Midlands Aeropark, East Midlands Airport, Leicestershire
EGXY: XM594 - Newark Air Museum, Winthorpe, Nottinghamshire (Syerston)
EGXW: XM607 - RAF Waddington, Lincolnshire
EGSH: XM612 - City of Norwich Aviation Museum, Norwich Airport, Norfolk
EGSU: XJ824 - Imperial War Museum Duxford, Cambridgeshire
EGWU XL318 - RAF Museum, Hendon, North London (RAF Northolt)
EGMC: XL426 - Southend Airport, Essex

Screenshots will follow after the event :D

Why not take a guess at how long it will take us in realtime?

why did you uninstall it Tom.com? did you not keep the original downloaded file to reinstall?

have you got the VC10? that would be an appropriate replacement if you can't reinstall the Vulcan - or the Victor

Thought it was a Vulcan Scramble not a VC10 one SM .... On second thoughts a VC10 scramble would work as well :D

Anyone can join us in anything they like - but we are likely to cruise around 300knots so SM's suggestion of VC10 is good :)

All spectators welcome too ;)

probably best to try GameShite first, but if not then FSHost - although the latter is never as good for formation flying

I can't. I'm in Nottingham on a HV switching course at Ratcliffe power station. Mind you, 4 star hotel, 3 cooked meals a day and booze - all on expenses.I'm heartbroken. :(( :((

Assuming SM crashes a lot 2.5 hours ie 5 mins at each for repairs =)) ,on the other hand if they fly in a dogs dinner straight line between each and do a touch and go 1 hour 40 min , also depends on wind(no beans ).

we all do - even when Wedgy and i are sitting next to each other, GameShite doesn't want to play ball ~x(

the alternative is FSHost, but it would be best to try GameShite first, as it is better, when it works!

Sometimes a router reboot before playing helps :) Something to do with freeing up ports ;)
