Bird-hit jet in emergency landing

Postby IanM » Mon Nov 10, 2008 3:04 pm

Rome's Ciampino airport has temporarily closed after a Ryanair flight from Frankfurt suffered "substantial damage" as it made an emergency landing.

The budget airline said the plane experienced engine problems from multiple bird strikes as it came in to land at Rome's second-largest airport.

On the assumption that no one was "injured" in this near-disaster, one can only feel sorry for the demise of our fine feathered friends.

In which case I pass on my heartfelt best wishes to those injured and their families.

My good lady wife and I, have yet to sample the offerings of a "budget airline" due to the unavailability of "business class" on flights of this nature.
