I'm really genuinely sorry but I have been told the truth in the strictest confidence just now. I cant say what it is cos the person who I know on the team trussts me to keep it confidential.

Erm..........cos I said I would try to find out and I did. If I didnt reply then everyone would have asked me. I replied saying I know but I can't betray a confidence that's all.

Dan,

This is none of my business but I'm bored so I thought I'd get involved =)) - I know it sounds like DD is doing a "I know something you don't know!" but I don't think that in this case it was meant in that way. I think he was simply trying to add clarity and an update to his earlier post where he said he was going to text someone and let us know. If he hadn't have come back and said that he'd spoken to them but couldn't divulge then possibly we would have all been wondering or asking what he'd found out.

If he knows but isn't at liberty to say, that is fine, we'll just have to wait for the morning's press announcement. I often find in these situations that it is a bit like Chinese Whispers anyway.... quite often it starts as something like "My mate Wade is not going tomorrow now because he hurt his left leg" and ends up as "5-5-8 isn't going tomorrow now as she lost her port undercarriage" =)) Patience is a virtue and we will find out soon enough.

That said, if she doesn't do Waddo at the weekend, then my heart goes out to all the Vulcan Village staff particularly as they are going to be facing some pretty harsh backlash from a large crowd.

I was just trying to help out cos Twitter isnt updated this late usually. I find up to the minute stuff when I need to or anyone wishes to know something, like when she was due to fly out of Brunty for the last time. I text my mate and let people know so they could see her. It is certainly not a case of 'I know something you dont know' at all. If someone trusts me with something confidentail it remains so. I'm not trying to be clever, just helpful.

Still going to Waddo tomorrow, but very disapointed that due to severe problems she won't be displaying on the Saturday and might be allowed up on the Sunday.

I don't think that is the case or ever will be Dave.
We appreciate your efforts mate.
I am certain if you were able to you would have passed on any relevant info and I admire your loyalty and honesty.

Thanks for at least trying to help ;)

That is exactly the point I was trying to make, on your behalf lol. I knew I should have kept out of it! This forum and the other place are nothing alike, don't worry about that. Our Global Administrator is not only brilliant but charming and powerful too - and our Mods are the best in town, nowhere in this country will you find a thwacking quite like the IAT (IconicAircraftThwacking) ;)

My plea is "Innocent", m'lud.......

I, too, am privy to some information, but that's neither
here nor there...

I'm to be excused because this whole further bit of Vulcan
Trouble has me angry along with many other emotions.
I don't often get angry, but when I do........I sometimes
shoot from the hip at the nearest target.

Sorry, Dave, but in this case that was you. Looks like I
just grazed you, though.

ok, lets say (hypothetically) that she doesnt fly, then the next time TVOC run out of cash and come to the public, they are going to be told where to go in my opinion.
Last year was the first time in 15 years people could see her at Waddo, and on the Sunday she was grounded by something trivial, that was probably 150,000 people who wanted to see her fly, many of whom had paid towards her return to the air.

It's bad enough being grounded due to a technical fault, but if it's another problem altogether and she doesnt fly, even though in theory she can, people will be understandably angry.
One final note, how many people going to Waddo over the next two days and travelling all over the country to attend don't know there is a problem at all????
I feel sorry for the TVOC team on the stand at the airshow who will get loads of flak.

i agree with all of that DD :ymapplause:

to be honest, today, with all that i know about the situation, i have felt extremely ANGRY - something which is all too rare for me!

as many of you know, I've spoken out against VTS management for some time, with their appalling mismanagement of the project. more recently though, there really has been a feel good factor - the amazing endeavours of so many Club members have saved the entire project on more than one occasion, and worked extremely hard to keep 558 in the air. the success of the pledge scheme earlier this year, and the very impressive Vulcan Village are testament to just how effective the Club is

the Club, its members and its endeavours have now been completely betrayed, by the very same inept management that we have suffered for a long long time - it is time for change!

I'm keeping my gob firmly shut on the matter until after the Waddington airshow, and presumably after VTS have publicised the reasons behind such a disappointing weekend; I'm eager to know just what excuse they'll use this time!

after that, and unless someone else beats me to it, I'll be baying for blood. it is we Club members who've raised the majority of the funds for 558, and paid the salaries of these ARSEHOLES - we should have some say in which heads need to roll!

and roll they should! X(

Let's start with Mr Flemming shall we?? He is the one wo wants all the praise when she flies, so he should get the abuse when she doesn't. I seriously think that if she doesn't fly this weekend then the TVOC lot are making the noose that will eventually hang them. If I was the bloke who bailed them out last time with a million quid at the last minute, I would want my money back. If I was the HLF I would want my money back.
Because of the fiasco that the inept management have caused, it is doubtful ANY other restoration project will ever get funded again and the aviation world will be an emptier place.
Let's put it like this shall we:
IF XH558 DOESNT FLY THIS WEEKEND THEN THE TVOC PROJECT IS DOOMED IN MY OPINION. ~x(

I'll get the pitch forks and flaming torches out shall I ;)

Seriously though, any idea when this press release is being released?
Not that I'll be here to get an answer lol

But I just can't get my head around this, Gregg was saying yesterday, he had a chat with Smiler who said she was as near perfect as she could get (didn't mention the leak though), surely they arn't going to let her sit on the ground if there's nothing physically wrong with her?

I can understand if the CAA are involved, but I dunno, Its way to early to be thinking so hard lol
I'm just going to cross everything that something can be done, or that this whole thing is a wind up, or I'm just hallucinating.

I think i'm going to go have a bit of a cry, pull myself together, make some sandwiches, put the kettle on and wait for Aggy to get here.
