Another one for this weekend ;)

Sorry, MR, but I think this one got lost in
the shuffle somewhere.....

Danf.

Ok after much head scrathcing and reading the books I think now know where it is !
it allows the bomb door to be opened without electrical power on the aircraft (only Hydraulics).
The emergency bomb door open is in the number 3 engine bay. Its a teleflex cable that connect directly to the door valve. Next time I'm around the number 3 engine I will try and get a photo.

Dumbo question comming up...

There's loads of pipe work within the bomb bay.. I'm guessing mainly Hydraulics. Is it flexible piping or semi rigid microbore copper - with nut and olive connections ?

Hydraulic pipework is mostly steel or alloy depending on pressure. Not much in the way of hoses - generally "walking joints" where movement is required, eg at bomb door rams.

However, it ain't all hydraulics. The bomb bay also has pipework for fuel, fire extinguishers, air for hydraulic pressurisation, air for bomb bay heating and cooling, and vent pipes for fuel tanks.

Probably lots of other services I've forgotten, but that's enough for now.

One Olympus 301 has twice the power of a complete F1 starting grid.
XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.

As Bovril said Phil,

Loads of different stuff in there.

Yes it does have nut and Olive connections, I'm guessing that's the plumber in you asking those questions.

Mackrick,

I have a new photo request challenge for you.......can you please photograph the nosewheel emergency blow-down valve in situ on the aircraft?

I have asked this as a bit of a challenge to your photographic skills....! Also, it will stop Bovril from posting a photograph of '655 with the same part, on account of the part in question from '655 is actually fitted to '558 B-) B-)

Well there is the winter servicing so hopefully the camera will get an insight into a few more hidden recesses of the Vulcan.

I've missed a trick there haven't I :(

I was in such a hurry to get the things out I forgot to take any photos of the cameras in place.

Never mind it's probably for the best.
