DC-7B Restoration Project

[Round_engine]

I visited Opa-locka Airport on November 11, 2008 to see how the restoration of former Eastern Airlines DC-7B N836D was coming along. I've posted an update on my website with a short article and photos. Have a look!

i have to admit that I've never been particularly fond of the DC7 (not a patch on the Connie!) - even so, N836D does look in fabulous condition.

FAA is no slouch when it comes to regulations.......

Hmmmmmmmm...............

Perhaps the FAA model could be presented to the EU Aviation
Authority as a template for some kind of international
consistency?

Or are we dealing here with the dreaded French Flared Nostril?

Is anything being done to address this INSANITY???????????

I mean PAX Oxygen and Glass Cockpit for a DAKOTA?????????

considering it's on 'safety grounds' - i wonder what the stats say with respect to the last fatality in a DC3 etc - compared to a modern Boeing/Airbus?

I was talking to one of the crew from the Dc6 at Goodwood last year. He gave me the impression that the rules were not set in concrete and they were hoping that a similar sort of ruling may come into Europe in a couple of years. They just have to survive until they are allowed to make revenue flights again.
