I've never had discovery either, right now they're showing it on some random channel called quest, which for some odd reason has now dissapeared off my free view box :(( :((

Blimey yes - I watched him build and fly Leonie years ago - that was almost his first one ... what you don't know is that it was actually mostly built by 6th formers from my mate's school up near Kidderminster. Mark just turns up every now and then and does a bit of filming and then leaves - picking up at a later stage. He's even been known to arrive and discover his overalls are too clean so he rolls about ion the floor in them to make it look more authentic.

Later they made it more authentic by bringing in 'real' mechanics to 'help' him and the probably did most of the graft and he just really steered it and did a bit here and there.

The 3 I most enjoyed were 'A Car is Re-Born' where he does up a 1965 Series 1.1 E type - well I say 'does up' - they spent £80,000 on it and it was effectively built from scratch to concourse condition. :D The REALLY interesting work on that one was using hot lead as a filler - fascinating ;)

Image

The 2nd one was 'A Chopper is Born' where he built a Rotorway kit - I REALLY enjoyed that one.

And the final one I enjoyed as my favourite 3 was 'An MG is born' where 'he' rebuilds a 1973 Roadster ......
This......

I didn't enjoy any of the motorbike ones - he did a Harley and a Trike and a Triumph Bonneville - well that one was ok I suppose ... and the worst one was the 4 x 4 stuff.

You got a lotta catchin' up to do SM :D :D :D :D

I can't believe they used him as a presenter of some bloody awful ITV garden makeover programme, he is much more suited to getting his hands oily on the technical stuff! :ymapplause:

I suggest we give David his very own television
program(me) and call it:

Pedants On Parade!

I like to do my planning retroactively!

Aha the Eurpoa ....

We had a freind who built himself one toook him 5 & bit years it was stunning. We went to Slingsbys & DT flew one with regards to buying & building one himself but we decided in the end he wouldn't have enough time to enjoy it :(
In memory of a very dear friend - Mike Pearson

Very fond memories of Robbie Gilvary - DTs 1st Vulcan Captain who taught DT all he knew.

I watched this when it first aired about 6 or 7 years ago (at a guess!!). I was convinced that building an aircraft was my lifes calling.

Go to the Europa website and have a look how much a kit costs.......

A lot, aint it?!?!?!?!? :D
NB; Any negative comments I post about the Vulcan are posted SOLELY to wind Gregg up!
