It's probably a good idea. Getting updates only from Dr P all the time can get a tad stale.

Whereas a new voice in the equation can possibly get people listening again if you see what I mean.

In the end though I suppose actions will speak louder than words.

indeed - and what interests me most of all is that Sharman's a BUSINESSMAN, and states as much from the outset

whilst Dr. P should always be applauded for kicking the whole thing off, he's a scientist and academic, not a business giant!

i think the very first thing that should happen is the banning of the word "PROJECT" in reference to 558 - Vulcan to the Sky is a BUSINESS! ;)

Exactly - toally agree - it WAS a project - but now it's moved on to be a one aircraft airline that needs running by said BUSINESSMAN.

Care is needed though - I was once in a building society where a new 'dynamic' ceo was brought in from a very successful TV rental company to manage said building society ... it all went FUBAR - and I do mean completely FUBAR - in about 9 months and he left with a cardboard box full of his possessions and a flea in his ear from the board in a very ignominious departure :D It took 2 years to recover to where we were before he started :p

It HAS to be the RIGHT man ;)

I would expect to see most of the updates still coming from Dr. P, given that he remains CEO of the Operating Company (even though he keeps saying he's going soon - bit like The Who's farewell tour!). Until now the Trustees have been notable by their absence, playing a 'figurehead' role in the way that the majority of charity trustees do. However (and reiterating SM's points), it's good to see someone with a business background as Chair of Trustees, Dr. P's boss and wishing to be 'hands on'.

Lets see what rabbits he can pull out of the proverbial hats. Hopefully, it's not too late.

Going by what Spitfire said I can give a positive difference to his story:
When I previously worked for LV= (Liverpool Victoria) the company was very much behind the times.
We had PC's that were at least 10 years old that took more than 10mins to start up. All the systems we used were in the old MS DOS format and email was the slowest way to communicate to others in the office (to my approvement. I'm a face to face person). We were even running very old TV adverts for products that were getting the company no where. We had possibly the best brand in the world - The UK's LARGEST Friendly Society, owned by it Members, for its Members...............sound Familiar (change Members to Public and it will :D ).

We took on a new Group Chief Executive & Director who was a success behind Barclays UK retail network. After he was appointed the old board members started to drop like flies as the new CE was changing just about everything possible except the core values of the company. New younger faces were appointed and upon re-joining LV= it is probably one of the largest expanding businesses in the insurance/investments industry right now & is pretty much unscathed by the whole credit crunch crap.

They are market leaders in just about everything they now offer.

The bottom line.......................

One big change at the top was all it needed.

Here's to a very positive shift to this car crash business, in the right direction ;)

£138,000 raised of the current £200,000 required by Christmas. \:D/

Interesting to note that direct donations outstrip pledges by almost 3 to 1 :ymapplause:

Hopefully we'll see even more momentum in the new year.

I sincerely hope that things will change very much for the better in 2010.

Having a new driver (pilot) at the controls may be just thing that 558 needs to secure her flying future

But the Jockey also needs to have a good horse underneath him.

Ah!!!

I was talking about the Team (Horse) not the Airframe.

The Jockey being the new man.

This also relates to the VOC management, (Horse).
