privileged access to 558? whats that? no access at all to the aircraft :(

when i was at fairford this year.. if you wanted to get a close up look, they were charging you :member or not.

Members should get free access to the aircraft if those situations. They can donate by all means. if it was advertised at the show that members get to visit close up for free, then maybe this would sway people to join.

I wonder how much cash is being lost through
there being no open Sundays this off season?

A substantial amount I would guess, but also the goodwill that was raised through access!

What was that last word, was it as Bubbles has previously said just an easy way to illicit Lottery funding?

Just a curiosity I have, but.............

Whatever happened to the suggested system to make the whole database for the club members and stuff easier to deal with?

what happened about the new database? as with most things VTS - BUGGER ALL!!!

it's still sitting there, just waiting to be pressed into service!

That hardly a fair comment.. I told you at the time that I was not happy with your system, it was not too user friendly, in my opinion, and I was the one that had to use it, plus you had not got a host for it, as I understand Wedgys servers could not handle it, and I didn't think Paul Spann would be too happy to host it either, but I did say I would "play" with it, when I had time, which, as I have said many times before I didn't have a lot of.
I, also if you remember, contacted you a few weeks ago to say I was revisiting it but that it had competition from a proposal from Eddie Forrester which is still ongoing and the two systems will be evaluated together when Eddie's is up and running..

we even offered a data cleaning service, but apparently Mr. Edmondson was sorting that out...........

and then we hear that some Club members were getting four appeal letters! you could have had a system which worked, saving you DAYS of effort, and you could have had it over six months ago!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That is not a problem with the Club Database or me' the Trust has done all the mass mail outs recently , all I did was give them an address only copy of the Club database and they did the merge.... When the club sent it's own newsletter only one copy arrived anywhere..

i do wonder how far the "our membership renewal is our own responsibility" attitude goes -
not impressed one bit!

If you read the statement properly I did not say that it was your total responsibillity to watch your membership all I said was to be aware when it was due and if you did not recieve a renewal invite, do something about it by contacting me not just leave it..after all how many times have I, on this and other forums, posted my FULL contact details whenever this question came up... I can't be blamed for non delivery of post now can I... or can I in your eyes???

Also......

Hi all.

I have never joined the VTTS club because i give them my time when the flight crew come to Wellesbourne and train on 655.We do work very hard to give them a serviceable aircraft as and when they need it.As for MaPS members, they get free access to 655 on any Saturday that the engineering team are there (which is 50 out of 52 weeks of the year) and are welcome to visit as many times as they wish and they also get free entry to wings and wheels and have a dedicated members day aswell, not bad for £12.

Sorry old son you are a member of the club....how do you think you can post on the the other Forum??..... you and all your MAPS engineers were given FREE memberships by my predecessor, Paul Hartley who I believe is or was one of your members... in fact your chairman actually turned it down and joined as and still is a paying member.....

So the membership includes people, apparently including myself as well as Crew chief, who do not even know they are members. How exactly does that benefit anyone?

And for clarity, I think you will find that should read "former chairman".

XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.

So thats why i was given a number many years ago.
If the FREE bit is a problem then please take me off the list.
In my post i was only stating MaPS members benefits.
What our chairman does is his business and should not be put into the public domain.
I am now pi**ed off with your tone. X(
I only do it with a long lead.

Sorry I did not mean to upset any of you , all I am trying to do is explain how things have developed over the years..

The situation is that the club gave free or honorary memberships to all MAPS engineers in the late 90s via my predecessor, Paul Hartley in recognition of the support given to BAH before the Trust existed which gave you all full club rights that is why you are a club member that was all...

I find this thread a personally very dispiriting one.... I have tried my best for a large number of years to maintain the club membership and club profile and the club's independance, I have worked many long hours into the early hours of the morning to try and keep my head above water..... having read this thread over again, apart from the personal attacks on me.. the rest of the gripes are totally against the TRUST, over which the club has no influance or control....please try to seperate the responsibillities and differences of the Trust and the Club and try to see what our limitations as club volunteers are.
