Shame they can't use that £2.5mil to get Vulcan flying!

Here's a nice "Monument"!

It cost far less than the price quoted, too!

And I bet it'll be full of bloody holes =)) =))

A telling comment from the article :p

However, Coun John Collins, leader of the Labour group, said: "The concept of a war plane on a huge stick is bad taste.

"I think it is inappropriate, it is a war plane."

So its a warplane then - like another I can think of - I wonder if that thought process is prevalent when it comes to large funding for the big triangle ;)

funny that - Michael Trotter agreed with me some time ago about the importance of the Education Programme - if for nothing else, it helps divert attention from the politically incorrect military aspect of 558! ;)

ok, so it's a military jet - BUT IT EDUCATES, so it's ok! :ymapplause:

I just can't see HOW it costs £2.5 mil.

Surely that place near Bicester that makes replicas on sticks doesn't charge £2.5mil for one! Can anyone find out how much a replica Spitfire on a stick costs? Then we can email them :D

plus the crane rental.....

And it's a Crosley, too!

Well I found out that it costs NZ $300,000 (£135,000) to build a flying replica Spitfire WITH a Merlin engine based on the Marcel Jurca MJ100 design.

Don't need to add shipping costs to that as someone could fly it back here, so add maybe £50,000 to fly it back here and thats still only £185,000 :-?

£2.5mil..... seriously, I just don't understand it!

Found one for £29.99 :D

Don't forget it will be classed as art and done by an artiste hence the cost is whatever somone is prepared to pay ;) and Preston obviously has some money to get rid of before the end of the fiscal year having been to tight with council tax spending to fix things or clearing the snow from the roads.

Remember the outcry when that bit off art had a lot of money spent on it instead of 558 last year :)) , in Scotland if memory serves.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Image
