Done it - but it just seems to go in the normal guest book - so my comment of - 'And many Happy Returns' looks daft in isolation :( I thought there would be a special place on the website where this 'record' attempt was being collated.

Just seems odd - and a bit 'half baked' :p

I'm sure I read somewhere they be separated out from the guest book entries - but I see what you mean!

Your user profile says Bomber County, not Pasty Land. :))

But this might just save XH558!

How much is the rent?

In my defence, I am but a mere male and can't multi task whilst on the phone to our Dorset correspondent!

What's the point of this?

The aircraft may be grounded and the trust in administration long before the 25th May.
To me there doesn't seem to be any worthwhile outcome unless your bothered by the record of signing a virtual birthday card.

558 has been rescued from the 'brink' on numerous occasions. I think it quite right right to carry until the Fat Lady has Sung.

Lets hope it happens again this time!

I'm not disputing carrying on, I just don't see how this is going to help.

Exposure.

Added my bit too.

As for is it worth it? It takes a very brave person to write off 558, as I know to my cost from last year. I (as a bit of 'fun') had a small wager with another club member that 558 would not fly in 2009. This was at about this time last year. I lost - and paid up.

So I will state (not finacially this year) that 558 will not fly in 2010. Fingers crossed I am wrong - AGAIN.

CF is correct.
The whole idea of the WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT, is on exposure - hopefully driving lots of people to the Web Site to sign the card, and then by default, a percentage will then PLEDGE some money.

It is all part of a planned strategy being revealed over the next few days. :)

So would it not have been a good idea to release this planned strategy to get the increased exposure 6 months ago when 558 was in the air - and in the minds of the public? Just a thought ;)

Well said, Spitters, but planning ahead doesn't seem to be their strong suit.

By the way, I didn't know the public actually owned the air. :-o

I've just been looking at this and I have a few reservations as I feel it appears a bit deceitful. It's actually the guestbook in disguise and the total is counting comments from last July as birthday greetings - I don't see that it is correct to count them towards the total number of card signatures as around half were posted as guestbook comments before the card idea was proposed.

I know these are desperate times but if this is picked up by Joe Public it could cause the Trust to end up with a lot of egg around the facial region, as a result I shall refrain from signing it. - sorry folks but the last thing that should be happening at the moment is to try to mislead people as that will bring about lack of trust
