On look through using Google I came across this.
I remember the Vulcan doing the fly past a couple of weeks before our passout.

Joe L'Estrange may have been the pilot he was well known for low flying.

I rememer the one on the wall at Cranwell - I think it is in one of the corridors of whittle hall. It is a vulcan (possibly 558) doing a flypast of College Hall, just pulling up as it passes the bell tower.

Rumour has it that the pilot opened the throttles to '11' as he pulled up, and 'relocated' rather a lot of the graduation luncheon crockery from the tables in the dining room underneath. I'm sure it was an 'accident'.

Sorry MF re the date. From memory, it was a black and white picture, but it 10 years ago this week that I left the college (hardley seems like it) and I cannot remember if there was a date on it.

From the smilies after your post, are you insinuating that you may know more about this rumour than you are allowed to tell. hehe.

Based on what has been said here already, it would seem like he spilt more than just beans on the day in question. I would imagine it went down as one of the 2 'best' flypasts for a passing out parade. The other involving Phantoms - but we're not allowed to talk about that..........

Based on the Cranwell flypast, low enough to remove lots of hats and end up with an almighty bollocking upon landing at CBY. Looked amazing on the vid I saw at Bentley Priory, too bad no-one has snuck it up on youtube yet.

Your correct, i've seen the picture in one of the many books i've read and Joe L'Estrange is credited as pilot, i have a feeling that the book also has the serial number of the Vulcan in question but thats now escaped me..
