558 Future Servicing

Postby Air » Thu Feb 11, 2010 12:53 pm

Just a few questions for the engineers (or anyone who knows) if they're able to answer. :)

Barring any unforeseen problems in future years, (and if we're lucky enough to secure funding this year) is the current servicing on 558 ie: undercarriage leg and spar mod, the last of the major things that need doing to the aircraft?

Once the spar mod is done, then the airframe should outlast the engines in hours, and the undercarriage should be ok for the remainder of it's flying life. Is that correct? Or are there any other expensive mods needed in the years to come?

I know there'll always be servicing needed, but after this year it should all be minor stuff shouldn't it?

One other thing. How many hours will 558 have on the airframe once the spar mod is done?

Just interested. :D
This is my sig:

I hope it's not too inflammatory and I hope that certain people wont completely misunderstand it like they did with the last one.

That would depend on your definition of Minor .... The only people who can answer that question is Taff or John. Items are lifed in different ways , hors running / flying, cycles, calendar, starts etc... so it will depend on the item and its usage. Its a bit of an open ended answer really but all this information is contained within the aircraft F700 and that is the only place you will find the answer / answers.

Well, I know things will be changed, like engines for example and that items are lifed etc, but was wondering if there's anymore potentially expensive servicing to be done such as we've had this year to ensure the life of the airframe.
