So, how is Cluny ever going to beat that?

I remember at the time there were various comments about how 'low' the approaches were - to which one response from me was 'Well if it were a person of average height stood there it would look much higher' :))

I also forgot to add - DT managed to do something that most of couldn't do. Get that old VTTS baseball hat off Cluny's head. Amazing what you can do with 80000lbs of jet thrust.

Would that be one of the alleged illegal displays?

I have heard it said that the aeroplane made unauthorised appearences and flew in conditions outside VFR, anyone with knowledge care to comment? ( by knowledge i mean official knowledge)

Nope - this instance was a booking for the sunset parade / ceremony at RAF Wyton in 2008. Beautiful evening and Damien B's photos from the display have featured in most of the calendars since! Arrival back at Brize was dusk / twilight, but the runway lights affected the exposure on Cluny's video camera, so as he panned around from approach to landing, it looked like a night landing! A still extracted from the footage is in the 2008 photobook "Majestic Return".

Can't find it on stupidtube at the mo, otherwise I'd link it! CLUNY - HELP PLEASE! :D

DT did the 'twilight' display at Wyton - they wanted it 15 mins later I believe, but DT flatly refused as you never know what hold ups there could be on returning to Brize...
