1/72 Auster

Postby 320psi » Sun Feb 14, 2010 9:27 pm

Hi all,

Assume you all remember me posting some shots back in August of the little trip in the Auster we took from Scamton with a good friend of mine ?

Its was Camerons first ever flight in anything, and Im very glad to say he loved it, thats my boy ;)

Heres the intrepid aviator

Here we are at Waddington in it

Anyway just before Xmas I found an old (the really old one in the vac formed packet with the card backing) Airfix 1/72 unmade kit of the Auster amougst all the boxes of made and unmade models I have tucked away
My 'Lightning' hobby started with building plastic kits and progressed to flying stuff when I was a kid, then to big stuff when I was a bigger 'kid' ;)

Anyway Cameron and I have been building the kit over the last few weeks to represent the aircraft we flew in and hope to fly in again very soon when he comes over to Brunty
Ive havent built a kit since building the airfix 1/48 Lightnings (728 and 904 of course) in 2000 which are the only models on show at home

Heres the 'work in progress' pics, Im in the process of looking out of number and letter 'decals' to properly finish it off

Ive added two guys up front and one little one in the back, all from my old 'bits' box ;)

Ive had a case made for it with a few images of him and aircraft fixed to its base, so he can have it on one of his bedroom shelves which might save it due to 'fingers' ;)

Its a slight diversion from the model railway, thats been 20 years in the making ;)

Hope you like :)

TSR-2 simply got the first 3 right. ”
