Delta Lady clothing

Postby Air » Sat Feb 20, 2010 4:52 pm

I bought some goods from the Vulcan webshop a while back. Just had an email to say the new line of Delta Lady clothing is in.

Can't say I'm fond of it. The logo is ok, but the 'Delta lady' emblazoned on it isn't appealing at all.
Actually preferred the old style gold planform stuff. Where has that gone?
This is my sig:

I hope it's not too inflammatory and I hope that certain people wont completely misunderstand it like they did with the last one.

I think you'll find the club will still be selling the Black/Gold thus retaining all the profits now they can afford too purchase the stock themselves. Delta Lady is Bob & Sandra's own range to fill the gap left by the TVST logo.

Must admit that I'm not a fan of the 'Delta Lady' wording either.

Eh? The webshop I used was directly from the Vulcan website.

So this Bob and Sandra ran the Vulcan webshop but have left to start their own line of Delta Lady stuff?
That's all a bit odd.

I just checked and there's another webshop on the Vulcan site, but it doesn't have any clothing apart from a tie. :))

No not at all. Bob & Sandra have been supporting 558 since long before she left the RAF.

Their core business is airshow trade stands. Back in 2006/7 when VTST had no money & the club had very little because it ALL went into providing funding for 558, 'Delta Lady' as Bob & Sandras business was called were asked to take over the merchandising of the Trust/Club stock as they had no money to fund it themselves.

Now the Club are in a position to purchase some stock again, for obvious reasons they wish to take control themselves again. [At least that is what happened to best of my knowledge]

Who are financially sound? Not the VTTS surely?

No you are correct - I meant now the Club are in a position to purchase some stock [either of there own or on behalf of the VTST - not sure which] it makes sense for them to do so & retain all the profit....

So the club are financially sound but the trust aren't?

What a weird state of affairs. #-O

Air, I assumed you know more than you obviously do about the structure of all things 558.

The Club & Trust are 2 different entities - again the club was in existence long before the Trust.

There is no reason the club should not be financially sound they as a club have in comparison to the Trust very few overheads and a regular income from members, but that by definition does not mean they are wealthy. As I said in my other post back in 2006/7 they weren't at all wealthy because they had donated most of what they had to 558 to keep her going.

They do financially support 558 as & when they can, and collectively over the years have gifted a huge amount.

Air... consider it this way the Trust are supposed to raise funds to operate 558 they have shortcomings on that front like a lot of Charities and therefore from the beginning have always been a registered Charity .The Club as it seems to be commonly known now began life I think as the 558 club to support the Aircraft (not the trust) members join their member fee going to the club to I think enable it to invest in ways to make more money which is then given to 558 at time I believe in large amounts .They also provide somehow most or now all the items on for sale at air shows through the Vulcan village Or at least thats how I see it .it is the member fee that starts the ball rolling what happens after that I really do not know .But the club makes money .The trust doesn't they have to raise it through charitable donations or as now to try to get the funds required to put 558 back in the air through pledges .OH heck a shorter version would have been the club I think is a business All surplus money raised by the club goes directly to 558 nowhere else . the Trust/TVOC is a registered charity .They need sponsors to survive The club is a sponsor .I am convinced like many that 558's timing in the return to flight was bad as it coincided with the backside falling out of a lot of banks .I also think that this situation will continue until the state of financial institutions stabilizes ..Sorry guys several threads all joined up here .TVOC/the Trust will continue to struggle until such time as business has money to give to help with the funding of this business /Charity call t what you will .Does any of this make sence to you .

This has all been explained to Air previously,
and he chooses to ignore the explanation.

I can only guess why he Will Not accept the
facts as they are. He seems to enjoy making
his problem our problem, but that's okay.....

I should say that there IS corporate money
"out there" to be had, but the business entities
themselves want to work with an organization
which understands the partnership aspect of
this type of sponsorship and which will view
them as being something more than just a
source of cash.

Thanks Mayfly and Haggis. :D

I seem to recall something about the whole club/trust thing now from the past, but it'd obviously slipped my mind.

Still seems a rather odd setup to me but hey ho! \:D/

There has been a grey area surrounding club merchandise. When I was last involved with selling stuff on Sundays, the majority of it came from SP Aviation; we received a % of profit. The rest they retained and subsequently made a grace and favor donation to the trust. Do not forget that they have a business to run and costs etc to meet. Times change, and with that marketing models. SP have supported us for years, thru the grim times of restoration; Thanks folks for this and may our relationship continue to be harmonious.

DLW:

Do you still have your dogs, and if
so, how are they? We talked about
them back on the Old Forum when
we were discussing Halloween in the
US vs UK. If I remember correctly,
they were a wonderful alarm system
chez vous.

Still have 'em?

Still very efficient, and my teeth aint blunt either.
I can recommend a Large(19 lb and growing)7month old Ginger Tom that we looked after over xmas and new year. Succeeded in clearing out all the local cats that had been encroaching on its "new found" territory. One I had been after for 2 years!!!lol.
Back on topic, not seen the "Delta Lady Range" so I am not going to get embroiled in this one.
