558 Education Programme

Postby Yorkie » Thu Feb 25, 2010 1:16 pm

I know that this has been done to death, I have just read this about the award and Grant that Elvington have got. Well worth a look, and something that the trust must seek to be a part of.

Would need a permanent home first.

I've never heard of this scheme before, sounds good, I like the bit about 'It saves the schools have to carry out their own risk or quality assessment'
In memory of a very dear friend - Mike Pearson

Very fond memories of Robbie Gilvary - DTs 1st Vulcan Captain who taught DT all he knew.

Not picking fault by any shape or form, but every school/club have to carry out their own risk assessment for insurance purposes or the trip can't go ahead!

As for quality assessment I can't comment.....................

And who are you to comment on anything to do with EDUCATION, why would anybody listen to your views? ;)

As I take groups of children out on outings, we use the venues risk assessments adapted for our needs as they know the venue better than us, you are right though, but as long as an assesment is done, it's fine for insurance/OFSTED

with elvington I always make a pre-visit just to make sure nothing has changed though. on works time of course

If I might peak very carefully from under my pedant stone for one brief comment - I agree with him completely :D

And as for risk assessments - my wife had to walk 30 children from her junior school around to the local secondary school for a concert - she duly completed the risk assessments - even though she had done it hundreds of time before. Reams of paper - every angle covered - cars - pavements - dog mess - raging bulls on the rampage - meteor showers......... so they set off - and within 30 yards some dumb clutz walks right into a wheelie bin =)) =)) You couldn't write it - life happens you can't assess it :p

My word yes - how the education page has changed - very impressive - all we have to do now is get rid of the very depressing black and gold everywhere and we could be on a winner :D

Lighten up guys - see Vulcan Ventures for colour and interest :p ;)
