If my memory is correct (doubtful) then 'VYC & D were part of the order for 5 aircraft for Channel Airways who were based at Southend at that time (but moved to Stansted once they started operating jets). They only took delivery of 'VYB & E and @c & 'D went to these operators and I believe VYA went to Cyprus airways who ended up with several others later on.
Andy, yes Channel did indeed order 5 aircraft but due to finance problems the order was reduced to just two aircraft. Two aircraft went onto BKS/Northeast and the other went to Air Ceylon. The only oddball aircraft to go to Cyprus Airways were two ex Kuwait airways Trident 1E's.
Ex Kuwait airways Trident 1E-101 9K-ACH at Hatfield after repaint into CY livery and re regd 5B-DAE.

Kuwait Airways first 1E was G-ASWU and was infacft the first 1E to be built, after serving with the airline this aircraft went onto serve with Cyprus Airways.

Trident 1E G-ASWU back at LHR in 1977,this aircraft and Duxford's G-AVFB were rescued from Nicosia after being stuck there due to the Turkish invasion in 1974 sadly 5B-DAE was destroyed beyond repair.
