In their usual fashion, PPRuNe have rapidly moved the story from News to Spectators Balcony, on the basis that the aircraft was never in any real trouble and it is all just hysterical newspaper reporting.
It seems to me that from the passengers point of view, a decompression sufficient to drop the oxygen masks followed by a rapid descent of 26,000 feet is going to get your attention and should be considered an incident.
The newspapers and other media may be overdoing it with words like "plummet" and "suddenly dropped", but the event is certainly worth reporting.
